The European Chitin Society (EUCHIS) is happy to announce the 11th International Conference of the European Chitin Society, that will take place in Porto, Portugal, from 5th to 8th of May, 2013, which is one of the most important scientific meetings related to chitin/ chitosan science held in the Europe, with the contribution of the most prominent and expertise scientists and professionals involved in this field.
The topics to be covered during this symposium include:
- Production, modification and characterization of chitin and chitosan
- Enzymatic synthesis, modification and degradation of chitin and chitosan
- Biomedical applications
- Agricultural, food and other applications
- Industrial applications and regulatory issues
The deadline for submission of the abstracts is March 11th, 2013 and the deadline
for early registration is 2nd April. Abstracts can be submitted on-
Manuscripts submission deadline has been extended to the 28th April.
Please note that the EUCHIS provides travel grant and poster award for the young scientists to attend this special event. The deadline for travel grant application is February 22 and for poster application is February 15.
The Braconnot prize winner for 2012 will also be announced at the EUCHIS’13 meeting as well. The deadline for application for this prize is 15 December, 2012. The detailed information on application conditions can be found at the EUCHIS website.
Scientific program will be complemented by an attractive cultural program in Porto and surroundings. The Welcome reception will be held at Alfândega Congress Venue, at a private room with a fantastic terrace just over the Douro River, where depending on weather conditions, you will be able to assist to a beautiful sunset.
The farewell dinner of the Conference will be at a Port Wine Cellar. We will meet at Alfândega Congress Venue and boarding a private “Rabelo” boat for a 50 minutes Douro River cruise, passing all the 6 bridges of the town, from where you can get a fantastic view over Porto city and Vila Nova de Gaia, where all the Port Wine cellars are located. At the end of the cruise, we will disembark and continuing to a Port Wine Cellar for dinner. Upon arrival in the cellar, visit to the wineries with professional explanation how wine is produced and stored as well as all the differences between the different types of Port Wine. Finally, we will have dinner at a private room of the cellars.
